Hey y'all!
ugh, I'm getting so bad at this whole "blogging" thing again.
I was doing really well when it was part of class credit, but now it's not a priority.. Which I really want to change... So here's to blogging for fun. Posts from here on out will probably just be a ramble about my life during the summer... what being a college freshman is like in a spoonie's world... all that fun stuff.
Some times my thoughts get a little scattered (Not sure if I should thank the gene pool or the brain fog for that,) but most of you know how that goes...
Anyways, It's been nearly a month since I've updated the world on my life, so we've got a bit of catching up to do, guys!

Anyways, It's been nearly a month since I've updated the world on my life, so we've got a bit of catching up to do, guys!
So, when I posted last, I was about to leave for vacation!
We went to this beautiful place in North Carolina called Oak Island. It's a small Island that is like 45 minutes out of Wilmington, NC (For you geography buffs. If you have no clue where that is... just Google it.. That's what I did!) Anyways, we had so much fun!
We drove through the night on Saturday, and showed up at the beach house at like 7am on Sunday. The rest of our family was already there, but we stuck around in Indy for a bit longer to go to some Graduation Open Houses! (You're welcome, Matt<3)
We spent the week on the beach, played card games, watched movies, went to some farmer's markets and just had a lot of fun! We even ventured to Southport, NC for an afternoon (For the Nicholas Sparks fans out there, Southport was the setting of the book and film Safe Haven.)
I learned that week, that I am not very good at relaxing. Like, at all. I am so used to being stressed and on the go ALL OF THE TIME that I literally could not relax. I felt like I always had something I needed to be doing, or was forgetting. I guess I should get used to that feeling, huh? I can blame four years of balancing choir, band, school, a social life, and a chronic illness for that.
So on Thursday, we got word that Tropical Storm Andrea was en route to the Carolinas. The impending rain and stormy weather was absolutely murdering my pain levels. That was not fun. Anyways, we were due to head to Charleston, SC that weekend to visit my dad's side of the family. So, we packed up our stuff and headed further south and straight into Andrea.
On the way down, we stopped off in Calabash, NC. We had dinner at his really good little restaurant.. I don't remember the name, I think it may have been Ella's, though. It was really good! If you're ever that way, I definitely recommend that little area for a nice meal, and the shopping looked fun!
After a three hour ride in a lovely down pour of rain, we finally got to Charleston. Let it go on the records that while RSD and Fibromyalgia dislike long car rides, they absolute HATE long car rides through the rain.
Anyways, we got to see a ton of family, and had a great couple of days! I was super excited to see my cousin, Krista. Who was nine months pregnant at the time!

She had her beautiful baby girl, Hadley, the next weekend!
I was so sad that she didn't come while we were there, but I'm going back down next week (for like, 10 days!!) and can meet her then! I love babies so much, I can't wait to meet the little angel. :]
The day after we returned from the Carolinas, I got to work Choral Festival! It's a day camp for children 3rd-8th grade with the Indianapolis Children's choir. Over the week, the kids learn about 7 choral pieces and get to perform them in the prestigious Clowes Hall on Saturday.
It's one of my favorite and least favorite weeks of the year. I love helping out and feeling useful and needed. The ICC staff really trusts me, and gives me a big workload the week of choral fest. That workload translates into MAJOR flare up for the whole week. I must say, I do sleep very well the week of choral fest. They wear me out!
I guess one of the best parts of choral fest has to be the campers. Each year, the entire group has a different personality. Some years they're more active and peppy, some years they seem like they just rolled out of bed. You come to love the campers as if they were a younger sibling. You learn their names, where they go to school, their favorites (color, music, movie etc.) And, some of them, their life story. It's kind of amazing the different stories you hear from the campers. Some intense, some scary, some happy, some sad. Choral fest will be one of the things I miss most about being in the Indianapolis Children's Choir.
After choral fest week, I had a few weeks off. I spent time with friends, I was pet/house sitting for a few weeks, and spent time in Bloomington, IN with my grandparents. (That's actually where I'm writing this from!) So far it's been a great summer! Thankfully there's still a lot of it left!
I have college orientation next week, and I leave for South Carolina with my cousin Katie and my friend Julie the next day. I spend ten day in SC visiting family and friends, then head back home for the rest of summer. I have another camp session to work, and am sure I'll spend a lot more time in Columbus, IN with friends/family, and more time here in Bloomington with my grandparents and cousin.
I hope all is well with everyone out there. I'll be working on an illness related blog soon, but the world has been a bit crazy as of late. Be checking out The Chronic Chronicles in the next few weeks and into August. The author of the site contacted me and asked me to be apart of her guest bloggers next month! I'm pretty excited about that!
Wishing everyone a great Fourth of July tomorrow, and I'll update again, soon!
