I love college! I have had such an amazing time the past week meeting people, going to classes (honestly never thought I'd say that...) and just living it up here on campus!
Monday-Saturday this week was just so much fun! I don't really have pictures from this week (I tend to forget about the camera option on my phone... oops.).. Sorry! But I will try and remember this coming week for the next time I blog!
I absolutely love IPFW and the music school here! Everyone is so friendly, and I can't wait to go back to classes tomorrow morning! I also really love hanging out in the student lounges before/after classes! Just sitting around talking about music all the time is fabulous! I really, truly love music school!

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Classes.
I started my freshman year of college with Music Theory at 10am! (God bless whoever came up with the idea for 10am classes!) I have that class with Zoë, Nick, and Alana! I really like professor Outland so far. She's super nice, and explains theory really really well! Also, a huge shout out to my high school theory instructor, Mr. Torres, for choosing the same textbook as my college professor!
Choir is the next class, and starts at 1:30 and goes to 2:50. We only had choir on Friday last week, because Mr. Busarow spent Monday and Wednesday auditioning the choir for voice parts! I had my audition on Wednesday. It went really well, and I found out that Mr. Busarow is really good friends with one of my favorite former choir directors, Mr. Pedde! When we got to class on Friday, some the things Mr. Busarow did reminded me so much of Mr. Pedde, it was like a throwback! Gotta love that humor! I really missed it!!
After chatting with people for a while, Zoë and I go to Piano class!!! There are six people in our piano class. 3 girls, 3 boys. Cassie, another Music Therapy Major, is the other girl in our class! Professor Hahn is this really adorable old lady.. she seems to spend more time telling random stories about her life than about piano so far... but, nonetheless, she is super nice and I'm really excited for that class! Zoë and I sit right next to each other in that class which will be absolutely hilarious and amazing! Hopefully we don't cause too much trouble in there. ;]

Tuesday and Thursday Classes.
8am classes are satanic. I actually really like the professor, but it still sucks having Sight Singing and Aural Perception I at 8am.... Anyways, Professor Kennedy is great! I really like her method of teaching. All of the freshmen music majors have to have that class, and the only time they do it is at 8am, so there was no way around it. What kind of stinks, though, is that most of the other music therapy majors are have it at the same day/time, but with a different professor. I still have Shelby and Nick, though! I'm kind of okay with having a different professor.. Eric told me that it will be nice to have Kennedy for the first to sections of this class because for 3&4 during sophomore year, it will be to my advantage to know her teaching style.
My favorite class ever starts at 9 on Tuesdays and Thursdays... Intro to Music Therapy! All of the freshmen therapy majors have this class together. I think there are somewhere between 10 and 15 of us in that class. We all joke around and laugh a lot in the class, and it's just so much fun! I also really love everything we have talked about in the class! We haven't done a lot yet, but every little thing makes my desire to become a music therapist grow even stronger.
After Intro, I have a two hour break until W131 (english). 131 is my only class outside of the music building. It's in the Liberal Arts building from 12:00 to 1:15... At least, it's supposed to be. Both times we've had class, the professor has let us out AT LEAST 30 minutes early.. but, I'm not complaining! Professor Davis is a really old man, with a very sarcasm-filled personality.. I love it! He's hilarious, and I'm actually surprisingly excited for this course!
After 131, I had a two hour break until Performance class! This week, the break won't be as long. I start voice lessons with Mrs. Donnell tomorrow! Anyways, I'm really nervous for Perf class. I have to perform for my peers twice this semester. Put me in front of a big crowd, no big deal. In front of a group of people studying music with a concentration on voice.. big deal. Hopefully I get used to it, though... There's no way out of this class!

Saturday and Sunday.
Friday night, some of my friends from Indianapolis came up! Emily, Julie, and Elaine! We've been best friends since middle school and, even though it's only been a few weeks since we've seen each other, it was great to reunite! They spent the night in my apartment with me, and then Saturday I showed them a bit of IPFW's campus, we went to the Glenbrook Mall, and then had lunch at Cheddar's! (Yum!) I always love spending time with them, and can't wait until I'm back in the Indy for a weekend later this month!
Saturday night, Zoë and her roommate Abby came over. We had a junk food and movie night, and it was tons of fun! We spent like an hour watching random and hilarious YouTube videos. We spent so much time laughing, that I was sore! It's so great spending time with them, and can't wait for our next movie night!
Sunday was pretty relaxing! Zoë and I went grocery shopping again! She avoided locking my keys in the car this week, so that was a plus!!! We came back to my apartment and made salsa and had taco night! That was interesting... We set of the smoke detector in my apartment.. whoops. Totally not our fault though! We had the pan on medium heat and put the meat in and it just starting smoking and wouldn't stop! It went from raw to completely charred in like .04 seconds! We opened up the windows, and after a minute or two, the alarm shut off. We switched pans and had MUCH better results, so who knows why that happened. Never a dull moment with the two of us... :] I then forced Zoë into watching Big Brother with me! (She claims I didn't convert her into being a fan.. but I totally did. She loves it!) And after that, she headed back to her apartment, and I started getting ready for bed. (#Partyyyyy)

In Other (Medical) News..
I'm spending today (Monday) cleaning, doing homework, doing laundry, and writing this blog. Been somewhat relaxing. I feel like I've been hit by a freight train, but that's probably just extra fatigue from the new medicine.
Gralise is still treating me pretty well. No horrible side effects. I'm still really tired all of the time, but that could be a mix of side effects and the disease and other factors. Just hoping and praying I can get the prescription filled this week!
Pain levels have been a little high the past week. I'm assuming it's the extra walking I've been doing. It's a bit of a hike around campus, but hopefully I get used to that and the pain drops back to the normal level.
Last Thursday, I was featured as a guest blogger on my twitter friend's blog called The Chronic Chronicles head on over there and check out my post! For those of you with chronic illness, this is one of my favorite blogs to read! She has such great and relatable posts. Totally worth the read if you have some time! Click here for my guest blog post.
Some exciting news:
Governor Mike Pence (of Indiana) signed a proclamation stating that Aug. 18-24, 2013 was Pain Awareness Week! I'm not sure how I missed this a few weeks ago.. but I really like that we got some recognition from the State!

Anyways, I hope all is well for all of my readers!
I need to go finish up some homework now. Thanks for reading the blog this week! I'll update again within the next few weeks and will, as always, post the link to facebook and twitter.
In the mean time, keep hoping, praying, and burning for a cure!
